Frank’s Story: overcoming the loss of family and battling illness
posted October 26, 2011
Dear Venkat, Sterling and Melinda, Rick and Beth, Ray and Lael, Pradeep, Lesley, Christine, SwipeGood, Shari, Dennis, and Peter,
Frank is a 6-year old boy who lost both parents when he was just one year old. A local couple in their sixties heard that he had been orphaned and offered to raise him as their son.
Frank started getting sick around the time his parents adopted him. Thankfully, Frank was taken to the Children’s AIDS Program at HEAL Africa, where he receives free medical services from Dr. Vyolo and the nursing staff.
Frank likes soccer. Thanks to his medical treatment, he can play with other children because he is strong and healthy. Frank does not go to school because of lack of money, but his parents hope that he will go to school next year.
His adoptive mother shared, “We love him and we take care of him because he is our responsibility. He’s like other children and we hope that he will grow up. It is now the fifth year we are with him, and we wish a better future for him. He calls me mama and he calls my husband dad – he knows that we are his parents.
We thank all the people who are giving free medication. It is helping a lot of people, not only my son, but also other people who are coming to the clinic.”
Your generous donations make this life-sustaining healthcare, including routine vaccinations, treatment for infections (malaria, tuberculosis) and nutritional supplements available to Frank. Thank you all for your kind support.
