Maisha’s Bright future

MaishaPascal 2011-6-7 021
Dear Jeffrey, Craig, Chris, Molly, Amit, and Microsoft,

Thank you for your generous gift! We want to tell you about Maisha, a nine month-old girl who lives in the city of Goma, a border town in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As an HIV-affected child, Maisha didn’t have an appetite and drank only one feeding bottle of porridge in the morning and evening. She was in the hospital every month and sometimes two times per month, but since she has started coming to the free CAP clinic and receiving treatment, she can drink four feeding bottles per day!

Maisha’s mother is very grateful for the support they receive at CAP; “It has been difficult for me to understand what happened to my daughter, but I realized that it is normal, and we now have a normal life like others. I wish a better future for my daughter and thanks to all the people who are helping this program. My husband is still alive but jobless, and he is struggling with life and trying to help our children. I pray a lot for the better future of my daughter and the rest of my family.”

Thanks to committed supporters like you, the CAP clinic provides hundreds of children like Maisha with free medical services that keep them alive and healthy.  The CAP clinic is the only one of its kind in the urban center of Goma. Thank you on behalf of Maisha’s family and all patients and staff at the CAP clinic for your generous support.

Elois can now live a normal life

Elois (2)
Dear Venkat, Microsoft, Holly, Microsoft, and Vivek,

Thank you for providing an entire year of medical care to Eloise.

One year old Elois suffers from HIV. He eats three meals a day and naps about 6 hours per day. He plays a lot with his older siblings and he really likes their soccer balls and toys. The medicines are helping a lot – since he started going to the clinic he is much better.

Elois’ mother shared with us:

“We are very much grateful for all the people who are helping the clinic get the medicines, because Elois is getting free medicines!

I think that the disease I have and that my son has is normal, but people think that we are very different from them. Before, when this disease was at the beginning, I thought that it would kill me in few days but, thank God, we are alive. I hope for a better future for my son. I hope he will grow up and go to school and live like others.”

Your generous donations make this free, life-sustaining healthcare, including routine vaccinations, treatment for infections (malaria, tuberculosis), and nutritional supplements available to Elois through the Children’s AIDS Program clinic. Thank you for your very generous support — it truly is changing Elois’ life.

Kevin has a bright future because of his healthcare.

Pascal 2011-6-7 019
Dear Sterling and Melinda, Kayennat, Tim and Sherie, Jeffrey, Venkat, Ehtasham, and Susan,

Kevin is a 1-year old who has started crawling and will soon be walking!  His parents are both out of work which has made it difficult for them to provide two meals for him every day. The family is living in a “temporary house” because they don’t have support from either of their families.

Kevin was routinely sick from the time he was born.  Thankfully he is enrolled in the Children’s AIDS Program in Goma, DR Congo, and receives excellent free medical services from Dr. Eulalie and the nursing staff at HEAL Africa.  Since he enrolled in the program, the family has been able to observe many improvements in his health.

Kevin’s mother shared “I have faith that my son will grow up if Children’s AIDS Program continues to provide free medical care. I thank all the doctors and nurses who are helping to treat our children.”

Your generous donations make this life-sustaining healthcare, including routine vaccinations, treatment for infections (malaria, tuberculosis) and nutritional supplements available to Kevin. Thank you all for your generous support.

Frank’s Story: overcoming the loss of family and battling illness

Pascal 2011-6-7 048

Dear Venkat, Sterling and Melinda, Rick and Beth, Ray and Lael, Pradeep, Lesley, Christine, SwipeGood, Shari, Dennis, and Peter,

Frank is a 6-year old boy who lost both parents when he was just one year old. A local couple in their sixties heard that he had been orphaned and offered to raise him as their son.

Frank started getting sick around the time his parents adopted him. Thankfully, Frank was taken to the Children’s AIDS Program at HEAL Africa, where he receives free medical services from Dr. Vyolo and the nursing staff.

Frank likes soccer. Thanks to his medical treatment, he can play with other children because he is strong and healthy. Frank does not go to school because of lack of money, but his parents hope that he will go to school next year.

His adoptive mother shared, “We love him and we take care of him because he is our responsibility. He’s like other children and we hope that he will grow up. It is now the fifth year we are with him, and we wish a better future for him. He calls me mama and he calls my husband dad – he knows that we are his parents.

We thank all the people who are giving free medication. It is helping a lot of people, not only my son, but also other people who are coming to the clinic.”

Your generous donations make this life-sustaining healthcare, including routine vaccinations, treatment for infections (malaria, tuberculosis) and nutritional supplements available to Frank. Thank you all for your kind support.
